Guan Weixing
Ambleside Gallery is honored to represent China's premier watercolorist, Guan Weixing.
Mr. Leslie Worth, past president of the British Royal Watercolor Society, once stated that “Mr. Guan’s paintings are fresh and beautiful. Each painting is a lyric poem.” Guan Weixing excels in both oil and watercolor painting but has devoted the past forty years to transparent watercolors. His works have been frequently displayed in important exhibitions in and outside of China, including the United States, England, Japan, France, South Korea, Tunisia, Taiwan and Hong Kong. Many of his works have been published and collected. His watercolors have gained him the respect of artists, critics and collectors world-wide. In 1994 and 1998 the Chinese magazine “ART” described his figure paintings as “a perfect combination of genius and technique” and referred to one of his paintings of a nude as “oriental Venus.”
